Philosophy

Realizing that the preschool years are crucially formative and impressionable years, our goal is to provide a warm, happy and enriching environment in which each child will be accepted and respected with love, as a whole and unique individual. In addition to this goal, we are aware of the ever changing expectations of incoming Kindergarteners. With this knowledge, we continuously re-evaluate our curriculum to ensure we are adequately preparing our students for Kindergarten. We evaluate our curriculum by reaching out to local Kindergarten Teachers asking what they are looking for in incoming Kindergarteners as well as continuing all of our education by staying current on best practices in the early childhood field.
Our aim is to facilitate the development of the “whole” child; to offer opportunities to develop healthy social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills through a balanced curriculum of age appropriate academic activities and play. We shall also provide important foundations on which each child can build for life; foundations that will encourage the development of love, trust and ownership of the world we live in today.
Because we recognize that each child is an individual with a unique learning style, each child will be encouraged to grow and learn at his or her own rate and through a balance of teacher-directed activities and activities of his or her own choice. The beauty about our classroom structure is the ability for teachers to work individually with children truly tailoring each lesson to meet the needs of the individual children.
We acknowledge and respect that a child’s most meaningful preschool experience occurs when Teachers and Parents work together as a team. Therefore, we welcome and encourage the participation of parents in the classroom as well as the expression of their questions and concerns.
Unity
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher- the tools he used
Were books, music and art.
The other a parent, worked with a guiding hand,
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the Teacher toiled with touch
That was careful, deft and sure.
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it o'er.
And when at last their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If each had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.
