FAQs For Swing Set Preschool
Updated: Mar. 3, 2021
Who will be teaching at Swing Set Preschool?
Swing Set is blessed to have a long tradition of strong teachers. While we are still in conversation with Swing Set teachers, we are also working on the program design, which will inform the staffing decisions. At this time, we cannot guarantee that the staff will remain the same.
Will there be 2021 Summer programming?
Unfortunately, we will not be offering summer programming this year.
Are you opening in the Fall of 2021? Should I register my child somewhere else?
We are reimagining and rebuilding Swing Set Preschool by thoroughly exploring all aspects of the business. While it is our desire to open in some capacity in the fall, we cannot yet guarantee any specific class offerings. For that reason, we understand you may want to look into other options for preschool enrollment, and we encourage you to do so.
Will I receive a refund for the 2020/2021 School Year Registration Fees?
We are currently processing refunds for all 2020/2021 registration fees as well as any vision and hearing and tuition paid in advance for the school year. You will receive a check in the mail by April 1, 2021.
Why did Swing Set close and why isn’t Swing Set opening at the same capacity?
The former Swing Set director, Kim Arneson, with input from the Swing Set Advisory Board and parent surveys, decided to delay registration and ultimately keep the school closed due to challenges such as low enrollment, budget constraints, and DCFS regulations. Like so many people, Swing Set staff had to make personal decisions about finding new employment or receiving unemployment. At the same time, Swing Set families made decisions to keep children home or to look into other options.
With the start of a new year ahead, Swing Set has to simultaneously reassess many factors: income and expenditures, programmatic interest, potential enrollment, modeling, and staffing. In full transparency, Swing Set is in the beginning stages of reopening, which has caused many families to secure enrollment elsewhere for the upcoming school year. The reopening task force seeks to evaluate the interest for future programs and to chart a path for a sustainable reopening of Swing Set.
Are you hiring a new director?
The reopening task force is exploring Swing Set’s staffing needs, and no positions have been posted or hired yet.
